Prof. C. V. Krishnan, Ph. D.

1.A Scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, a High School Teacher in Long Island, New York, and a Professor of Chemistry at Stony Brook University, New York. 2. Developed and taught Saturday science for 16 years, "Hands on Activities in Chemistry and Physics" for parents and K-6 children and performed 800 science demonstration shows (or "magic shows") for the public, in schools, universities and museums. 3. Advised and coauthored New York State Regents Chemistry syllabus. 4. Authored more than 75 research publications and several book chapters in fields such as ion exchangers, aqucous solution thermodynamics, inorganic photochemistry, impedance spectroscopy and spatiotemporal oscillations of biomolecules. 5. Advised and developed the "Vigyan Sagar Science & Technology Park", Thrissur Prof. C. V. Krishnan, Ph. D. 6. Contributed lifetime earnings to promote education through Sopaanam (2010) and Sreelakam Lifelong Learning Institute (2023), his own charitable facilities in his birthplace. 7. Won numerous awards in USA and Kerala for promoting education at all age levels. I have known Krishnan for more than 50 years. He was the first Indian born in Kerala to receive the most prestigious United States "Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Mathematics Teaching" (1984, President Ronald Reagan) for "embodying excellence in teaching, for devotion to the learning needs of students, and for upholding the high standards that exemplify American education at its best." If I were to describe Krishnan in one sentence, it would be something like this: Krishnan is a good friend, dedicated family man, brilliant scientist, and excellent teacher. He has two words "chemistry" and "charity" written all over him. That summarizes Krishnan as you too will undoubtedly conclude after reading the fascinating story of his life in India and in USA.
